How it works

Two ways in.
One instrument.

You either name the project you want, or publish what you are looking for and let anyone answer. Either way the side that wants it funds before the other side commits.

If you already know who

A direct Veil

You name them, buy their token and lock it. They mirror it on the terms you published, or the offer expires and your deposit comes home.

You pay first. That is the filter.

If you do not

An open call

You publish what you want and deposit nothing, because there is no counterparty token to buy yet. Anyone may answer, and answering means they buy your token and lock it before you have chosen.

You say how many partners you are after. Each one you accept becomes its own agreement, funded and bonded separately, with its own term running from the moment you accepted it.

Accepting somebody funds the other half and starts their term in that same transaction. The call keeps taking answers until every place is filled or you close it, and everyone you did not pick withdraws in full whenever they like.

The rule does not change between the two: whoever wants the partnership pays before the other side has agreed to anything. In a direct Veil that is the proposer. On an open call it is the applicant, which is why a call with ten answers is ten projects who each put money down.

i.

Somebody goes first

The proposer on a direct Veil, or the applicant on an open call. They buy the other side's token and lock it before anyone has agreed to anything.

ii.

The other half lands

They fund their side on the published terms. The clock starts the moment that transaction confirms, not a block earlier.

iii.

It unwinds slowly

Linear release, never a cliff. A Veil ending cannot dump both charts in a single block.

The question everyone asks second

You can walk.
It just costs.

Nothing traps anyone. Either side may end a Veil early, at any moment, and the consequence is written into the instrument rather than argued about afterwards.

Both holdings go home. Every locked token returns in full, immediately, to whoever bought it.
The one who leaves forfeits their bond. Half to the side they left. Half burned.
The one who stayed keeps theirs. Staying was never what costs.
Their address stays on it. brokenBy is written into the Veil and never cleared.

Why there is no judge

We settle facts.
Never opinions.

Settled on-chain

Did you end this before the date you agreed to?

Never ours to decide

Was the thread good enough?

What you agreed lives off-chain; only its hash is stored, so the words can be checked but never rewritten. Either side may flag it delivered. That flag moves no money, and it never has to.

What you get to post

Every Veil
cuts its own seal.

The rosette on each card is engraved from the Veil's own number, so no two are alike and the same one is always the same. Like a seal on a document, it belongs to that instrument only.

Float percentage sits beside every amount, because $500 into a small float is not the same commitment as $500 into a large one.
